founded by the Decree 21 October 1974. This Decree entered in March 24, 1980. The decision to open its doors was made in 1980 after renting three buildings: the first in Tripoli, the second in Roumieh and third near the roundabout of the bridge from the airport which was changed in 2005 to campus hadath.

The Faculty of Engineering developed since 2005 an international strategy in order to pursue the following objectives:

  1. Prepare engineering students to international career
  2. Ensure worldwide acknowledgment to the educational system
  3. Enrich the academic program

To reach these objectives, the Faculty of Engineering is working on:

  1. Enhancing students and Faculty Members mobility
  2. Creating research teams in collaboration with International Labs
  3. Developing Partnerships with internationally recognized academic institutions and promoting cooperation projects

Outgoing mobility

After the fourth year, the students are offered two possibilities for recruitment in foreign universities

Double Degree in Engineering (DD)

two years of study abroad
five or six years of study in total after which the student is awarded:
An Engineering degree from the Faculty of Engineering of the Lebanese University
A Master in Engineering or equivalent from the Foreign University

Master 2 in research (M2R)

Access to the M2 Level in a partner University
One year of study abroad (One semester of study+ one semester research oriented internship)
Five years of study in total after which the student is awarded :
An Engineering degree from the Faculty of Engineering of the Lebanese University
A Master degree in research from the University abroad

This may lead to a doctorate thesis

Other: Students in their fifth year may also have the opportunity to apply for a final year project in any partner University

How to apply

The Faculty of Engineering offers to the students the opportunity to achieve one of the several exchange programs in partner institutions. In order to help the students in their mobility, many partners are providing means to apply for scholarships.

Below is the procedure to be followed by students:

  1. Consult the partners page : recruitment conditions, exchange program, deadlines …
  2. Seek for academic information from the hosting institution website
  3. Contact the Embassy of the Country in which you are applying*
  4. Subscribe to the student exchange program application: and choose three possibilities (if the application is for M2R programs)
  5. Discuss your choice with the mobility responsible in the branch. a list of ulfg candidates will be sent to each partner institution
  6. After getting the aproval please Fill the application form and send all the required documents to the hosting institution
