The Information Day on Overview and Safety of Energy and Oil Industry

The Lebanese University- Faculty of Engineering organized The Information Day on Overview and Safety of Energy and Oil Industry within the Erasmus plus Capacity Building GOPELC project, at the Faculty of Engineering III on Thursday February 16, 2017.

The Seminar included a presentation for Prof. Clovis FRANCIS (Lebanese university) of the Erasmus plus Capacity Building GOPELC project, and a presentation of the new Platform of the Master Program on Petroleum Engineering presented by Prof. Fadi Hajj Chehade (Lebanese university).

 

The part concern Oil and Gas Industry Mr. Rami El Mir, Senior Engineer at British Petroleum America Company give a presentation included:

 

- Simple overview of Upstream, Downstream and Midstream processes

- Process Automation Control and Safety Systems

- Market Layout and Major Players

- Jobs in O&G (Local demand)

 
 

Rami Mir has 15 years of experience in the Oil & Energy sector. He currently holds a position at BP America as an Automation Engineer GOM. His knowledge and experience includes commissioning onshore and offshore Greenfield and Brownfield projects and operation of Top Sides and Subsea systems, Process Safety Optimization, Asset Reliability, DCS and Safety Instrumented Systems.

Prior to joining BP in 2013, Rami worked as a Worldwide Technical Manager for Dresser-Rand Control Systems where he was guiding and supporting the sales growth and achievement of the Business Unit. He also held Project Engineering positions at both Dresser-Rand and Mustang CAT in Houston where he worked on some of the biggest projects in the industry.

Rami holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Notre Dame University and has obtained a second Master's degree in Project Management with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of Houston, where he graduated with academic distinction. He also holds a six sigma green belt certification.
